Your Medina dentist uses tooth-colored resin to artfully reshape damaged teeth. All your life you’ve had shortened front teeth that made your smile look immature, even childish. Nothing is more embarrassing than being completely matured but feeling less than when you smile. Dr. Allan J. Milewski knows that beautiful, even teeth can do great things for your self-esteem. That’s why your Medina dentist works so hard to make your dreams of a gorgeous smile come true. Cosmetic dental techniques like dental bonding have made this goal much easier to obtain. Dental bonding is available in the Medina Family Dental office now!

What is cosmetic dental bonding?

Dental bonding is the application of a tooth-colored composite resin (plastic) used to repair flaws in your smile. This cosmetic procedure can be used to repair teeth that are decayed, chipped, discolored, and even make your teeth look longer. Sometimes, dental bonding is used as a cosmetic alternative to fillings. In some situations, bonding can be used to protect a portion of a tooth root that has been exposed because of gum recession.

What does the procedure entail?

Of course, the first step to improving your smile is to call for a consultation with Dr. Milewski. During your consultation, your dental goals will be discussed and you both will collectively develop a plan for treatment.

If dental bonding seems to be the best option for you, your dentist will use a shade guide to select the composite resin that matches your natural tooth color. From there, Dr. Milewski will gently etch the surface of your natural teeth to create a long-lasting bonding experience. The tooth will then be coated with a light conditioning liquid to help the bond adhere.

When the tooth is prepared, your dentist will apply the tooth-colored resin and mold it to the improved, smooth shape. Your dentist will then harden the resin with an ultraviolet light or laser. After the material has been hardened, he will then shape and trim it more, finishing with a polish. If you’ve ever had acrylic nails applied before, or watched someone for that matter, the process is very similar with the same objective—to protect your natural nail (tooth).

How can I benefit from dental bonding?

Bonding is one of the easiest and least expensive cosmetic dental procedures available. You have the option to fix the flaws that have made you feel less than you really are for an affordable price! Not only is the price a great reason to move forward with your interest, but a lot of patients are ecstatic about their results because the tooth-colored resin blends so well with their natural teeth.

Cosmetic procedures at Medina Family Dentistry will give you a smile that is beautiful and healthy.
