Dental Crowns in Medina
Dental crowns, also known as caps, fully encapsulate a damaged tooth to protect it from further harm and to restore a tooth’s functionality. In addition to repairing severely damaged teeth, crowns can be used to correct bite problems, close spaces between teeth and change the angulation of teeth. They are also used in a crown and bridge procedure to anchor a prosthetic in place of a missing tooth, to protect a tooth that has had root canal therapy or as the finishing restoration of a dental implant.
When you come to Dr. Milewski for a porcelain crown, we will first take an impression of your existing tooth in order to create the correct shape and size of your new crown. This way, you can be sure your crown will fit seamlessly with your other teeth and your bite. Then, Dr. Milewski will prepare your tooth. Once completed, we’ll take another impression of your tooth that we’ll send to our dental lab, so a perfectly fitting crown can be fabricated there.
While your permanent crown is made, you’ll wear a temporary that we make in our office during your first crown appointment. Once your permanent crown is ready, you’ll return to our office for Dr. Milewski to adhesively bond the crown to your prepared tooth.
To care for your porcelain crown, brush and floss daily as you do with your natural teeth, paying particularly close attention to the area where the crown meets the gum line. With proper care, your new porcelain crown can last for years and years.
Porcelain crowns from Dr. Milewski will restore your beautiful and healthy smile. If you are ready to schedule an appointment, or if you have questions about any of our restorative dental procedures, please call our office today.
